Inspection plan of aircraft structures

• Aircraft structures should be inspected routinely by NDI so that the fatigue damage can be detected before failure, but it requires high cost and time. So optimum interval is necessary.

• Probabilistic approach is developed that accounts for uncertainties of crack growth and NDI.

• Optimal inspection number over life is found as 3.6 by SLAP while it is 10.61 by RCMA for the life being 10k FH & risk being 10-6, which is the reduction by 66%.
