C-MAPSS turbofan engine degradation dataset released by NASA is a popular source to examine a new deep learning algorithm or to train in the PHM community. It includes various sensors data recorded until the end-of-life over the period of engine degradation under several operation conditions and faults. As there are no such large datasets in the field, they are well suited for studying prognostics in the PHM. Two most popular algorithms in the deep learning fields: CNN (convolutional neural network) and LSTM (long short-term memory) are taken to illustrate the prognostics procedure.
